So, I found iOS 11 PB to be quite usable, but my battery started dropping fast and iPad got warmer than usual, which is the reason I came back to iOS 10.3.2. I have the 2nd gen 12.9".

However, now I'm thinking maybe it was just indexing or something and I'm kinda considering getting back on the beta, because it really worked well. Anyone put it on one of the new iPads? How's your battery and is your iPad warmer than usual? Thanks.

The battery drain won’t go away till later betas. That’s fairly normal to be honest.

Battery and Heat on a beta is normal, if you don't want shady battery life and more than normal heat then betas are just not for you.

In the 10 minutes since iOS 11 Public Beta was installed on my device, I lost 30% of battery. It was on charge whilst it was being installed. Crazy... Hopefully it does improve quickly.

Yep my battery going down faster than a cold beer on a summers day on iPhone 7 Plus and she’s running hot too !

Will see if it improves slightly after a few days !

iPad Air 2’s going down fast too !

That's normal, give it a day. It's indexing, doing photos, background processing. After a day it works as normal (i was on dev beta, now public)

My 6S+ definitely has shorter battery life on the beta, but my 1st gen 12.9 still seems to be pretty normal

As others have said, reduced battery life is normal for betas, especially early ones.

My iPhone was very warm for hours and hours after updating, but I'm pretty sure this was simply due to it analysing my photo library and other background stuff. It's back to normal now.

10.3.3 is rock solid if you need to be ahead of the pack. I don't know why they don't just release it already. What has it been 7 betas...8?

Edit: No it's only been 4. 8 was the previous one!

the most incorrect, overused excuse ever. its old. indexing is extremely fast & doesnt heat up & drain like this. this is exclusive to beta 2.

My 7 Plus and Air 2 also have enormous battery drain and heat problems. I want to go back to 10.3.2 but there is a bug with safari cleaning all my tabs when I haven‘t opened it for a while which wasn‘t there before installing iOS 11 beta.

Mine seems to have improved a lot this evening.

Have noticed the improvement since getting a Photos notification saying “you have a new memory: four legged friends” which niftily collated all the pictures of our dogs.

I’m wondering if the drain was mostly down to indexing photos...

Took off charger at 6:30 am and now 12:07 96% charged
All good after first day

It’s actually more true than ever with the AI face recognition, object recognition, iCloud uploads and downloads occurring.

My iPad 9.7 Pro is showing battery pretty much as normal, however my 7+ has equal standby as usage which is incorrect (rogue app?) and is draining really quickly.

Same here on my 7. I’ve done everything I could think of to correct it and nothing has helped, so I sent feedback.

Edit: it was a rogue app causing mine. After offloading several, I’ve narrowed mine down to either YouTube or Instagram.

Edit #2: it was YouTube. Guess it needs to be updated. My jet black iPhone 7 now runs without (many) issues.

Just to share something...

After replacing my old wallpaper with the new one from iOS 11, immediately, hot emanating on the surface of my iphone6+ apple case. I'd just hard resetted the phone and it was gone.

About the battery draining , I lowered "temporarily" the display setting to minimal and it does helps somehow. 17hrs passed, still on 72%.

I am experiencing my phone very hot in the morning and battery drain very quickly. I usually reboot and it generally cools down after that somewhat. Does anyone know about what beta number does the battery should stop heating up?
