So, what's the story with MBP batteries holding their charge over time? My last two laptops (A Dell & Comcrap) both weren't able to hold a charge over time, and the use I got out of a charge diminished. Do these batteries do the same? Will AppleCare replace the battery for free if this happens?

About how many charges did you go through before you started having trouble?

No LiIon battery is going to last forever. After aout 300-400 charges or so you're going to see significant loss in capacity.

FWIW, my battery has been through 29 charge cycles. Its health (total available capacity) is rated at about 97%.
