Does anyone else's battery show 100% even after some use? I've been surfing on mine a good 25-30 minutes and I've still got 100%. I've done the battery conditioning twice.

Yup and I love it. It also doesn't jump from 100% to 80% (iPhone will do that). It seems to (knock on wood) have an amazing battery.

I feel like my battery lasted longer on the out-of-the-box charge, similar to what you're seeing. After a full charge, it appeared to decrease at a much higher rate.

I'm sure I'll get some techie arguing this point - but how long are you charging your iPad for? Is it at all possible that the iPads (out of box) were charged for a long time (idle) - longer than people are charging their units at home? And if so, is it possible that the long(er) charge topped off the battery to absolute capacity?

Also - while it shouldn't be noticeable right away - every charge diminishes the chemicals in the battery a LITTLE bit. But this really should be negligible and not "obvious" for at least many charges...

I charge mine overnight and feel I get the same great battery life now as what I got out of the box.

The battery is by far the biggest and most welcome surprise for me.

I usually charge throughout the night, so I would think it's able to reach full capacity. I'm also using the wall charger, in lieu of USB.

I'm pretty anal about some things, so it's possible it's more psychological than anything.

Let me preface by saying I do not know this to be a fact, and i am speaking out of my hiney, but this sounds a lot more like creative/aggressive programming of the battery meter than anything to do with the battery. A programmer could easily make the battery level read 100% over a broader range of voltages, which would in turn make us all feel good.

I'm just saying..

While you are correct that it can be "faked" (at least until the battery actually does run out), the battery life of the iPad, if you've ever used one for a significant length of time, is amazing. I can go two days of nearly constant use, breaking only for sleep and other bodily functions, without exhausting the battery.

Oh, don't get me wrong, everything I have read points to amazing battery life (still waiting on my 3G). But you can have the exact same 10 hours of battery life, with the first 2 hours at 100% OR the first 1/2 hour at 100%, then 95%, then 90%, etc. The battery meter is a funny thing...

I was just thinking the same last night. When I first got the ipad i would throw it on the charger at night and have 50% or more left, now every night it is down to 20-30%. I've done a reboot to make sure there is nothing funky going on (and i dont have mail setup).

Mine has been like clockwork. 2 hours and change, 80%. 4 hours and change, 60%, and so on and so forth.

I do agree with you on other products though, but this has been as accurate of a battery meter that I have seen in a while. I've been extremely surprised.
