My iPhone 7 has a capacity reading of 86%. Is this good? At what point should a battery be replaced?
I ask because I have it up for sale and a potential buyer is trying to get the price down by saying he'll have to replace the battery.

It's not that good and yeah, he's gonna have to replace it soon. Under 80% is when it gets really bad and a replacement is recommended.

80% is considered end of life for a lithium ion battery. I’d replace it ASAP because I think a LOT of people will try to get in to get a new one November and December.

There is a line below that. What does it say under peak performance?

86% is not good, it's just OK, but it's worse if your battery cannot support peak performance.

In any case, yes, you do need a new battery soon.

Give him a $29 discount. That's how much a new battery costs. Or you take it to Apple to get the battery replaced and then sell it (maybe for more). Having a brand new battery in an iPhone for sale is a plus.
