is there a way to have the battery indicator at the top of the screen show the % charge remaining?
currently, only the bar is visible

it used to be there .....

No it wasn’t. You have to swipe down on control center to see the percentage. Always been that way on the X, shouldn’t be different on Xr/Xs/Xs Max.

thanks .... I hadn't seen it there
I think on either older iOS or phones without a notch it used to be available on the home screen
I'm just switching from an SE

Yes all devices without the notch still have it on screen even after today’s update. Takes a little bit to get used to...

With the iPhone X series and the notch on the top that is not visible. However you can swipe to open the control center to see it.

Click the top right corner from the battery icon.
Swipe down to access Control Center. You should see the battery percentage at the top right in the Control Center.
