Hi guys,

This is probably me being paranoid, but I wanted to ask a question regarding the battery life of a MacBook Air. I purchased the laptop two days ago and have used it sparingly. I don't have anything downloaded/ or it hasn't even been synced yet, the brightness setting is at 75%, all the apps are closed, 2 tabs open on the safari.. the battery went from 98% to 86% in roughly 2 hours and 3 minutes. Is that normal? I did the diagnostic test and everything comes up normal. My main use of the air laptop is to write documents/browse internet - basic things. Which is what I had been doing today - just browsing online and watching videos to see how the battery would hold up. Anyway, 12% drop in 2 hours and 3 minutes.. normal or is something off?

Seems normal to me. Screen brightness has a big impact on battery life, so I turn that down to just what I can tolerate when I want to conserve battery life.

Watch for websites that are CPU hogs, usually ones not well put together with a ton of ads.

I have a 11" MBA and I never get the advertised battery life. Light usage is more around 6 hours for me, and with any heavy use it goes down to more around 2-3 hours.

As ^^^Pugly said, seems normal. Extend that out, you are looking at 10 hours use from full charge. Apple says 12 hours, but for example, their video playback vs battery test is playing an iTunes video, and does not appear to be downloading content, which will drain the battery additionally.

12% in 2 hr = 16+ hour before you have to charge again. That's not what they sold you? What's the number they quoted you/read?
