Battery Condition

Coconutbattery is telling me that my battery has dropped from 88% capacity to 75% over the last 30 cycles, for a total of 451 cycles, and that I should "Check Battery".

Is this any cause for concern?

It seems to be degrading faster than normal....or the calibration is off. Have you calibrated it? If not, a big change or incorrect time remaining reading is fairly normal.

Thanks. Calibration was often recommended for the the old style removable batteries, but with the modern Lithium Ion batteries which consist of multiple cells spread around the laptop, calibration is not of much use.

Might give it a go though.

was the machine mostly on the power adapter or was the battery getting exercised frequently. In my experience with past Macs if you don't use the battery all the often then it tends to degrade faster despite being a modern LiPo battery.
