I have a C2D MBP that I bought when they just came about (It's been about 8 months I think) and for the second time now after turning the computer off and coming back in the morning the battery goes down all the way to 0. I don't put the computer to sleep I actually shutdown and when I turn it on in the morning it will turn on for a second and then shutdown because the battery has completely drained. Is there a problem with my battery? Anybody else have a problem like this?

Thx

Seems like your battery is broken. Is it swelling? If it is get rid of it, it's about to blow.

Are you serious? It isn't swelled.
What I do is I run the computer with a 23" ACD so I run it with AC power with the battery in it and when I turn off the computer at night I just disconnect the power cord.

If you use the battery a lot, like more than 500 cycles or something, then it should rightly be dead. Maybe you just need to recalibrate it. Charge it all the way up, then use it to discharge the battery. When It dies again Charge to the max and then it should work-hopefully.

I've figured out the problem. My computer won't shutdown. I click on shutdown and all it does is go into some kind of a sleep. Not sleep though, when I open the lid the little light on the tab goes off but when I close the computer's lid it goes into a solid light and the fans and everything are running. That's why the battery drains overnight. It's not shutting down properly and I have to do a hard shutdown by pressing the power button for a few seconds.

it's not that he has used the battery too much. the lithium polymer batteries used in mb's and mbp's simply stop functioning after they have run their course.

are you sure that your mbp isn't shutting down? a good way to check is to see if the caps lock key lights up.

then again, if you're positive that it isn't shutting down, and that it is being narcoleptic, then try pulling the battery out and putting it to sleep. (i.e., try re-producing the symptom with the battery removed)

C2D wasn't out 8 months ago. You have a CD MBP.

It's definitely a C2D, I just wasn't sure how long I've had it.
Narcoleptic would be exactly how I would describe it. When I press shutdown, the lid is already closed on the MBP because I'm using it to run my ACD. The monitor turns off, but the computer is still running somehow. I don't see the desktop or anything but I can hear it still running and when I open and close the lid back down I get that solid white light on the button that opens the lid. It's kind of weird. I took the computer home for this weekend and it shuts down fine by itself when I'm not using it with AC power and running an ACD.
