In recent weeks my iPad Pro feels like it's draining its battery extremely quick.

Usage is mostly for YouTube, Audible and Kindle.
Age is 927 days. 793 battery cycles.

iOS 17.6.1

Just hooked it up for coconut and am surprised that it still is above 82% of battery health.

When googling around I saw somewhere that power cycling can help. So I drained the device completely, let it sit empty for 5 hours and recharged it to 100%. Did that two times. Don´t feel a change.

In another place I read that a full reset can help because something that drains might be running in the background (but what?), but I am kinda hesitant to whipe the entire thing clean, spend hours setting everything back up the way I want it and might not even get a different result in the end.

Any Ideas or suggestions?

I noticed that if I keep my Apple Pencil in the charging place, it drains my M1 11" way quicker as well. I keep it off the iPad now, only takes it when I really need it.

Don’t have it but I’ve read about this issue. Some speculate that compared to MacBook, iPad Pro battery is underpowered for M1 chip.

@DrRadon

I have the 11" M1 pro 2TB cellular version and haven't noticed any excessive batterydrain from newer iOS versions (running iPadOS 17.6.1)
I don't use the youtube app or any social media tho. Mostly Netflix and webbrowsing using safari.

I don't know the cycles my battery has but would guess its prob not over 200-300.

Have you changed connectivity type recently (like changed router)? Have you looked at if there are any updates to your home router (FW)?
Same goes for peripherals, any new gadgets that's hooked up to the unit via Wi-Fi or BT?
You using any homekit devices or added anything to your home network?
Are all the apps up to date?

well,
I purchased one of the last M1 iPad Pro 11" (3rd gen.) 2 TB (WiFi/Cell) in September 2022 (NEW! about 50% discount) and I am very satisfied with it - especially its long battery life - use it nearly exclusively and it replaces up to 85% my MacBookPro 15" in daily use.

no problems with battery at all...and very satisfied with its over-all performance...
