Just ignore it and keep using your phone. Folks like you are the reason why Apple did not enable battery percentage number by default. Unless the number jumps wildly, I’d not worry too much. There’s really nothing too much an end user can do to those batteries if they do go bad except asking Apple to replace it.

Impressive maths there.
We don’t really know how Apple comes up with their battery health number.

I think too many people around here are overly worried / obsessed about something that usually isn’t a problem 1 or even 2 years after purchase.

If battery health didn’t fluctuate based on several different factors, there might be cause for concern down the line.

I think he means (100-98=3) on your reply ;)

You don’t really have anything to be concerned about until it hits 80%, which usually takes around two years. The ‘difference’ you’re seeing is likely placebo.

You kind of start feeling the effects to one degree or another once you get below 90%, but, yeah, the battery should still be at least decent until about 80%.

Who says the maximum capacity cannot be 101% ;)

On a 11 pro. My 100 battery health suddenly went to 98.
I see a substantial difference already.

anyone else?

As you can see in the screenshot of CoconutBattery a lot of fluctuation completed with unrealistic values. The iPhone Battery Health iOS menu now show 97%, while CB says 100%

Yes. More battery drain = more battery charge cycles = lower health battery = buy new iPhone next month~

I've noticed more fluctuation in my batteries with the last couple iOS Mac OS versions than ever before. I've been keeping records since 2015 (coconutBattery).

Your phone is running slower at 98%?
Dude, how did you come to that conclusion. I feel like I shouldn’t have to say this because it was so obvious, he clearly MEANT a drop in battery health percentage.

Seems like that was a question.

Apple should just drop this value from settings and also treat "inactive memory" in activity monitor as "free ram" while they're at it.

I really like the way Apple started doing it with the iPhone X. No percentage displayed by default, but you can see it while pulling down the control center.

Seeing that number tick down during normal use is bothersome. I remember how much happier I was when I turned it off on my previous iPhones. Now the way the FaceID phones do it is perfect.

He said.

Difference in what? Performance? Or the incredibly obvious 2% drop?

🤦🏻😑ohmygod CLEARLY the latter. Are you still having difficulties with this? 🤔😭

like you don’t need to quote it for me, I already got it, and I already explained it to you.

SIGNIFICANT DROP IN PERCENTAGE. You know that 2% drop from 100% is not a big deal, but if less than 80% takes a toll in performance, then some people can consider the drop to be significant. 🙄 I’m having an online breakdown v man, please tell me you get it 😏

What did he see already. The 2% drop? Ok. So basically the post was a waste of time and effort. 😅😂🤣

He clearly can see the difference. The number has changed. But I still think he was trying to be “smart” and claim his phone slowed down.

2% is not a significant drop in percentage. There was a statement made by the OP about seeing a "substantial difference" after battery health dropped to 98%, so a clarification question was asked to get a better idea as to where/how that substantial difference was being noticed by the OP. Perhaps the OP can expand on that?

yes, he is getting closer to 90% — faster than he expected. I don’t think he mentions that his phone has slowed down because of the drop in percentage, he didn’t claim anything of the sort AFAIK, so it’s completely on you. 🙄

I don’t think it’s a significant drop either. But I can see why some people would think so.

If Apple slows down the iPhone once the battery percentage goes past 80%, then every percentage would matter.

he literally says, it SUDDENLY dropped from 100 to 98. That’s a big difference if he noticed it just on BETA 3. READ TITLE

That is generally how these drops appear, at one point you check the battery health and it's down from what it was before, often enough it's after an update that something like that gets noticed. In that sense it's pretty much always sudden.

None of that is really in question, it's more about getting more details about the "substantial difference" that the OP mentioned noticing. Again, seems like something for the OP to reply to.
