Im expieriencing some battery issues with my Macbook Pro (CD). Have had the laptop for a year and recently the health dropped from 98% to 55% and has not recovered. Can someone help me work through this issue? Should I bring it to apple? I need it repaired by friday morning!

Apple is not going to do anything about your battery. A battery is a battery and does not have an infinite life. They will eventually go bad. There is nothing to "fix". Have you tried to calibrate the battery? That will normally kick up the health of the battery.
That is not true, the OP should take the computer to Apple and ask them to replace the battery. I have gotten a replacement battery from Apple for my Core Duo MacBook Pro before.
How old was the battery/computer?
A year old battery is not covered. A year old battery is not even covered by AppleCare. I guess if you catch a Genius at the store in an exceptionally good mood, you may get lucky, but doubtful.
The battery was about 5 months old and I have AppleCare on the computer. But there is a known issue with the MacBook Pro batteries, so that should change Apple's look on the battery issue.
That is true... I forgot about the battery exchange program. The battery has to fall in a certain SN# range and model for it to be eligible. If it doesn't match both those criteria, they aren't going to do anything about the battery.

Battery serial number range:
ending with U7SA, U7SB or U7SC
You could check your battery against the above info and hope it falls in that range. If not, you can take it to the Apple Store and hope you get lucky, but I doubt it.

My battery did not fall within that range, but it was still replaced, I think that Apple is being pretty forgiving with the MacBook Pro batteries.
They may be, but I doubt it on a year old battery.
