battery issue

my macbook C2D even though it's already at a 100 %. It also doesn't calculate how long it takes till it's charged. iStat says 0:00 left, the finder bar doesn't stop calculating and coconut battery says it's charging.....anyone know what's up?

the battery is supposed to stop charging when it's above the 95% as well, when you unplug and plug it again, but mine just charges like it's empty

Uh oh. Reset the SMC and then calibrate your battery. If these don't help, then it's probably best to take it back to Apple.

yeah i'll probably have to do that, but the problem was gone after a while...but today..it's back again....I really don't want to take it to the apple store because it's nowhere near my place.

anyone else have any ideas?

it sounds like it's charging even while at 100% but eventually goes away after a while. Sounds normal, given that it's quite a possibility that your lappy is rounding up the percentage.

I know my battery often is stuck at 99 or 100% and is still charging and calculating time left to fully charge, but given a little bit of time they all go away when it is fully charged.


btw if it charges while the charge is above 95% then it's probably something to look at. shouldn't be doing that...

that's why I thought it was strange, because it does charge even when the charge is more than 95% (it was 97% just now and it started charging). So it looks like it keeps charging because the timer is stuck on 99%, because once I unplug it, it says 100%

Unless it was depleted below 95% beforehand and is on its way up to 100%. That's more of a technicality though. I just thought I'd clear it up.

right, i meant charging if the charge was already at 95%+ before you plugged it in. in which case it shouldnt charge at all and just deplete until it's back below 95%+ at which time it charges to 100%...

yeah it just keeps charging....it says it's on 99% and when I unplug it, it says 100%. But the LED is still orange.....it goes away after an hour or so, but I still think it's strange...
