Hey guys

I spilled a bit of beer on my macbook pro, 2.16 C2D about three or four days ago. It was spilt on the speaker grills and a tiny bit by the back where the fans are... my first reaction, take out the battery and power supply. I let it dry for a while, but I think after reading the forums here I haven't let it dry long enough, and plus beer has some acidity or something that makes the components corrode. Anyways here's the weird thing...

In Mac OS X, it works 100% flawless on AC power. When I pull the plug, it seems to work fine, then all of a sudden I get video artefacts around my mouse pointer, it looks like several black horizontal lines that form a rectangle - see attached pic below. If I leave the AC power out, it eventually freezes after about 10 seconds of this weird video artefact thing going on. If I quickly put the AC power on, it "saves" it from crashing, and continues operating normally - i.e. the video artefacts disappear. And here's the even weirder bit....

I boot into Windows via bootcamp to check out if that will work. And miracuously it does! I am typing this message in Windows, on battery power... no problems yet.

Now my theories go as follows... the beer spill obviously did something to my system, most likely something to do with power management and my battery - or perhaps it caused a battery fault? I'm going to try and swap batteries with a friend to see if that's the case. But I'm bewildered that Mac OS X has problems but Windows doesn't seem to mind that something could be fried in my machine.

Any suggestions? Would be much appreciated, as I don't want to have to deal with Apple support out here in Australia - I bought my computer in the states before I left. I also know that Apple won't perform repairs free of charge if they figure out I spilled something... luckily I do have insurance on the computer and can just claim it got stolen or something along those lines, just in case.

Thanks guys
