Hello,
Thinking of upgrading from XS Max into 14 Pro Max.
I was wondering what would the battery life be in comparison to when XS Max was new?
Right now I am having battery capacity of 79% so its not as it used to be, obviously new 14 Pro Max would have a much better battery life, but what if we compare with when it was new?
Has iPhones batteries improved in the last 4 years?

Thanks!

Yes the battery life on the 14 PM coming from an XS Max (even with a brand new battery) is going to be leagues better. I dare say 14 PM battery life will last *at minimum* 2x as long as the XS Max on a given day. We don't have official third party testing on the 14 PM battery life yet but we can assume it's going to be better than the already titanic 13 PM because of the supposed 20% better efficiency in the latest A16 chipset vs. the 13 Pro Max A15. It's not just the larger battery and more efficient chips, the LTPO screens on the 13/14 Pro series help with reduced power consumption too.

So to again answer your question: "Have iPhones batteries improved in the last 4 years?"

Yes. The answer is absolutely YES.

Dare I say the Xs Max is the worst of the Max phones in battery life, lol, I remember going from a Xs Max to 11 Pro Max and being absolutely blown away by the 11 Pro Max battery life that was a huge jump from Xs Max and now on the 13 Pro Max I am even more blown away.

The 14 Pro Max should provide significantly better battery life than the Xs Max even if the Xs Max was at 100% health. There is no comparison. The Xs Max was a lovely device for its time but it’s battery was average at best unless you threw it into Low Power Mode, let’s say everything after 11 Pro Max has better battery life than a Xs Max in Low Power Mode.

I think one of the reasons why 11 and beyond has way better batteries than XS and before is the removal of 3D Touch, unless I am wrong. They took up some space and the removal of it allows bigger battery.

Having said that though, some of the iPhones you can buy today, like 13 Mini or SE, does not have the greatest battery either in my experience. With my usage it could easily drain before the day ends.
