battery life a good bit less in lion

just noticed with 57% battery left, I'm only getting 2.30 hours, on snow leopard i'd probably be getting 4 or 5 hours
 
What is your CPU usage? If you just installed it, Spotlight might still be indexing. You should also calibrate the battery to get more accurate figures.
 
Don't think it is indexing , i installed fresh so there would be little for it to index lol nothing major on the cpu either

This is a freaking alpha build. For example, I've noticed myself that sometimes Safari and its new sibling Safari Web Content uses up 90% cpu for no reason, which eats up a lot of battery time.
 
You do realize that 10.7 is a developer's preview and you cannot start taking battery measurements. Its not even at the beta stage yet.
 
i actually think I'm getting roughly the same battery though, for example it says I've an hour eft when I've 30 percent battery, anyway alpha or not I'm gonna stick to lion as my main os until such time that theres a major reason why i can't run beta software
 
Same (Predicted) Issue.

Ever since switching over to Lion, I've experienced this issue that I can't say I didn't see coming: My battery life has reduced. In fact, with Snow Leopard, my Mac (April 2010 Edition) would switch through the 2 Graphics Cards when necessary. With Lion, I get the same battery life I got with Snow Leopard when I chose to only use the Discrete (High Power) Graphics Card. It's at most half, if not less than the 6 to 12 hours I was getting before.

Basically, even though Lion is in Alpha, I don't think this is something that will be bettered in the final release. I just hope the 9 hours stated for the 2011 MacBook Pros are with Lion, and not Snow Leopard, because I'm thinking of getting that as well.

Well, I don't find anything wrong at all with doing battery measurements on a developer's preview. Seriously. I would however only care about the result if it did show significantly increased battery life. That would have been interesting and noteworthy!

But decreased? Not so much. I'd just assume it will be fixed and check again when it's nearing release.
 
It'll probably be fixed once the final one is released. Apple would never release something that degrades battery usage by half.
