I decided to jailbreak my iPhone SE with iOS 12.1.1 beta 3 and oh Mylanta! Battery life is insanely good on my SE. I bet battery life on my iPhone 10 will make me very happy with battery life with Dark Mode enabled. I tried downgrading my 10 to beta 3 last night but kept getting an error which prevented me from downgrading.

iOS 13 neeeeeeds dark mode.

I am using Noctis12. The OLED comment is 100% true but the entire LCD panel doesn’t require as much energy when it’s dark.

I did not realize screen time was off so I just turned it on. I can post results after a couple days of usage. I mostly use it for GPS, music (a lot), texting, calling, Tapatalk, Facebook and Safari. It’s a second line device so it isn’t used as much as my main phone, which is the X.

I also forgot to mention I installed two tweaks to keep LPM on at all times but disable the 30 second time out function. That helps even more. But before I installed those, I still noticed a great improvement vs having everything be white. The white drives me nuts at night so I am hoping we see dark mode on iOS 13. If not, I’ll stay on the last version of iOS 12 and wait for a jailbreak to add a dark mode function.

I think you will find that a dark LCD screen will use more power (although not much). It has to apply power to filter out the backlight, whereas OLED just doesn't bother turning on pixels. Although they could do away with the blinding white screens regardless and also find some time to shrink the almost full screen volume change indicator.

I would expect that the lower power mode is the source of your power savings, as using only half the CPU power and disabling most of the background activity will definitely save on power. I also seem to recall that this mode will dim the screen, another source of power savings.

So here’s what I have so far. Not sure if this is enough info or not but here’s a shot. My iPhone SE is currently sitting at 91%.

You might be right on that. If it consumes a very small amount of more power, I don’t notice it. I mainly want everything dark for when I’m driving at night and using it for music while it’s on the vent clip. Having everything dark now is a big improvement, especially with night time driving.
