Hey, my parents need new iPads. They are both 85 years old and their old iPad minis are no longer holding a charge. I found 2 brand new 16gb iPad Air 2 for $250.00 each. I am thinking about purchasing, but I wonder if the battery on the 2014 iPad Air 2 which has never been charged still be “good”. My mom and dad only use the iPad for Facebook or playing solitaire. They don’t put music or movies on their devices. This is why I thought iPad Air 2 16gb was perfect for them. They don’t need the latest iPad. So what do you think about the shelf life for a brand new iPad Air 2?

You can find the iPad 6th gen 32GB for $250 on many retailers (Amazon has it on sale now). Newer stock so battery wouldn't be degraded plus A10 is more power efficient compared to A8X. I wouldn't buy an iPad Air 2 16GB for $250 at this point in time.
Thanks for the feedback. I will definitely buy the iPad 6th generation from Amazon. Thanks again

The 2018 iPad would definitely be good enough for their use case.

Question for everyone. Everyone is recommending the 6th gen. Why not the 5th? It’d be cheaper and in my opinion, the A9 is still a great chip. If I was looking to save more money, I would go with the 5th. But the A10 is a nice upgrade but also not shaming the A9 at all.

Because at the current deals available for 6th gen, the 5th gen doesn't really cost a great deal less and you lose the warranty (which could be up to 2 years with credit card extended warranty).
