I've had my iPhone around a month. While delighted with almost every aspect of it, I do find the battery life disappointing. I have to recharge twice a day, and each full charge allows me a little over 3 hours usage. In that 3 hours is a 50:50 mix of internet stuff and phone use. Is this typical or might I have a "leaky" battery? I'd appreciate comment. Thanks.

It's a tough question... there are lots of threads about battery life. If you use it for three solid hours of actual continuous internet surfing, especially while listening to the iPod function, or game playing, yes, it will draw down on battery life significantly. Three hours of usage mixed between the phone and the web seems slightly low to me.

Another thing though is that a lot of us used our phones tons during the first month -- more than we realized and more than we did afterwards. In my first month, I never had to charge it twice a day, but it would often be close to dead at the end of the day. Now I use it as much as I want, and it almost never gets to the red line by the end of the day, even when I spent 2+ hours on train rides using the iPod continuously and a fair amount of web surfing.

if im playing music i get full 8 hours if not more sometimes ill play games too so it varies.

My iPhone's battery life sucks too..
When I bought my iPhone and got it unlocked by some cellphone shop (they used the horrible ZiPhone software and downgraded my bootloader), i had to charge my iPhone after every 8 hours or so.
Thanks to the Dev Team's 'Bootneuter' I upgraded my bootloader and now my battery lasts for about a day. Definitely not happy with it at all!

I get about 8 hours of phone usage, but that is because I have a lowered brightness, don't use 3g/edge, and hardly use wifi (keep it off most of the time)

i think you should turn off your wifi and even 3G when you are not surfing online, and that will save you a lot of battery. for me, i charge my iphone at least once a day.

battery life with video/wifi

I alternate between watching videos and using applications that require wifi. I'm getting 2-3 hours.
