Battery life on 2010 and older?

With Lion everybody said that battery life took a major hit with anything older than the 2011 Versions.
Since 2011 and 2012 are fairly similar in hardware I am guessing the same might be true with ML. Does anybody know how the situation is with ML? Improved, the same or even worse?

I still run SL and since upgrading is fairly cheap I am considering it. Never saw a reason for Lion with worse battery life and no feature I really wanted only some I didn't like (MC).

2011 versions of what? Macbook (Pro) (Air), iMac, Mac Pro??????

I'm guessing OP is referring to notebooks given that "Battery life" is in the title of the thread.

I have a 2010 Air and the battery use is somewhat anecdotal going by iStat Menus bars. In SL, on a full charge of 6700mAh the remaining time indicator would be around high 7hrs with just web browsing. With Lion, that dropped to high 6 hours.

Now with ML thr remaining time battery indicator is gone from OS X. With a full charge of 6100 mAh (battery at 91% health) iStat fluctuates its reading wildly. I used my laptop for 10 minutes this morning doing the following - read some mail in GMail, open Daisy Disk, download upgrade to Daisy Disk, look at MacRumors home page, look at Jalopnik home page. The browsers have ad blockers, so no flash ads.

in this time iStat showed me different readings, ranging from 3:30 remaining when Daisy Disk was installing to 9:03 when I was looking at Jalopnik.

With Lion I grumbled at the decreased battery life on paper, but in reality my Air does just fine lasting all day for taking it to meetings, looking at documents, reading e-mail. I just got used to throwing it on the charger mid-day whenever it was just laying on my desk.

So you cannot really decide if there is any difference for lack of comparable read outs.
One would need to record a cumulative power draw with some app. I got one but it really only helps with some comparable data. iStat simply extrapolates the current power draw. You need the average of the last minutes to calculate anything meaningful.
7 down to 6 is also not so bad. Probably because it is an Air and the Display is about 2/3 of the power draw on idle.
I have a 15" MBP and usually people reported something of about 50-60 % reduction. I wonder if anybody else has some istat data or experience with MacBook Pros.
