I would say mediocre for an iPad. I’ve been using it a lot and can get about 8 hours of on screen time but I don’t like charging to 100% or discharging below about 20% so the actual usable time is a bit less. I’ve been experimenting with low power mode to see if I can extend it a little.

It seems to be pretty good to me, I get multiple days out of it, but I don't think I use it as much as others. And my Mini 4 was getting really bad battery life in the last year or two, so my comparison may be off.

Worse than my Air 4 or 2021 12.9. I easily get 10 hours onscreen time on those and still have quite a bit of battery left over. Display's usually at 0-20% brightness.

The mini, seems like it will get 10 hours at best with complete drain from 100% to 0% with similar usage and settings.

My initial reaction was that it’s not great… but then I forgot I had to turn off the battery draining functions. So, will monitor again for a few days.

It's in bold

What are the "battery draining functions"?
I was quoting you
Sorry, I wasn't really replying to you but the poster you were replying to. Essentially I was just adding my "me too" since I am as curious as you are as to what those functions may be. My Space Gray Mini 6 is set to arrive in the next couple of weeks and I'd like to set it up proper.

Sorry - I also got confused there with multi quote - my error

Elaborate, please.
Here are some power saving settings I utilize when pushing its limits.

Disable majority of app notifications, except a few delivery quietly such as mail.
Announce notifications off,
Siri suggestions, do you need any? Otherwise turn them all off.
In Siri & Search I only have Show App in search active, everything else is off
No sound for new mail
Turn off bluetooth if not using
Auto Lock 2 mins
Display & Brightness use dark mode only

Good to monitor what apps are consuming most of battery, sometime you will see apps that are updating or doing someone in the background that can consume power excessively.

FaceTime is a real battery consumer, use it sparingly

Don't leave your Safari with MacRumors foremost, as its rotating ads consume battery faster then 99% of web sites out there even in private mode even when you are not using safari.

I sure I've missed some, but pay attention to attention to screen brightness the higher it is exponentially faster your battery charge will go.

So disable and or don't use a bunch of features?

That sort of sucks -- especially on a brand new device, no?

A lot of things I listed don't really impact your usage, but the way Apple had things set to run in the background, instead of it just happening when you go to use a app consumes the battery faster.

I am not impacting background updates of apps, but turning the iPad into a phone like constant barrage of notification activity is not what you need prominently most of the time.

I forget to add iCloud sync can waste battery too.
Cheers.

What are those?
Just mostly background refresh and the auto brightness. I found that I had a lot of background things going on that I didn't need or want. Since turning it off, I was able to see some increase in usage. Still testing it out~
