I can't find this information anywhere, so here i am.

How's the battery life of the macbook air (mid 2013) with Yosemite? I want to upgrade, but I have tremendous batterry life on Mavericks, so I'm afraid.
Is it the same, better, worse?

Thanks in advance.

I have a late-2013 13" rMBP and was getting terrific battery life on Mavericks: 10-12 hours. It's a little worse so far on Yosemite, but not a lot. Maybe an hour, hard to tell for sure because I don't run on battery all day. Yosemite does seem much snappier on my MBP, though. It just zips along.

2013 MBA is a beast so I wouldn't care if I lost 1 hour. How is 2012, anyone? 1 hour would be a lot more to lose for 2012

I'm getting terrible batter life with the GM Yosemite 2 on my 2012 MBA 11." With Mavericks I was getting 6-9 hours of use per charge and now it's down to about 3. What's up?

Thanks for any help.

I'm still getting very good battery life out of my late 2013 MBA. After Mavericks I could get about 12-16 hours out of it, and according to Yosemite's battery life indicator it's still about the same.

I haven't actually tried to run it for 16 hours on Yosemite yet, but have seen 12 hours on Mavericks (with an estimated 4 left!).

Battery life on my 2013 rMBP also seems to be pretty good on Yosemite as well.

Useful Thread, Thank You.
I was about to ask the same question regarding Battery Life on an early 2011 MacBookPro 13".

Has anyone tried Yosemite on this model?

I am pretty much afraid of going through the last experiences we've all seen when installing any New OSX.

I was getting terrible battery life on 11" 2014 MBA (~3 hours). I wiped it out and did clean install and now am at around 6.5 hours. Haven't put back on dropbox, etc. yet but am curious to see how that will affect things.

I have a 11" 2011 MBA and I'm pretty sure I'm getting like 3 hours. In fact I just saw the life drop from 1hr30min to 45min in less than 1 minute. Upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. Maybe I should do a clean install? I have drop box running and I think Chrome is the worst culprit right now but can't be sure.

I haven't had to ever plug it in this much and nothing significant has been done except web browsing.

This sucks!

I charged my MBA to full and powered it on. When I click on battery life, it show 16 hours remaining with 100% battery (obviously I won't actually get that, but still!) Looks like clean install did the trick for me.

BUT...I haven't yet but dropbox back on... I'm scared

How do you get 10 hours on a Macbook pro?

With the same model at 100% i have 8 hours max

Seems just the same on mine.

Spotlight indexing still? Go to Activity Monitor, CPU tab and you can <see> what is using the CPU and therefore battery....

Don't think so... After a full charge estimate life was 4hrs 48min. That seems WAY too short.. (And in practice it sure feels like a hell of a lot shorter).. Really contemplating doing a fresh install now but I have tons of stuff on here.. Gahh.. annoying..
