I just jailbroke my 3g on 3.1 and now
my battery life is shorter, is there a way to fix this?

Yep two choices.

1, flash back to standard.

2, turn everything off and dim your display as much as you can stand.

There has to be another way

Restore back to standard IPSW (anything but 3.1 if you can) choose set up as new phone, then re-JB and see if battery issue comes back.

If you have 3G, you can restore to older firmware as much as you want

These things happen sometimes with JB and sometimes you have to do it over.

I'm also having this problem. I jailbroke 3GS 3.1 and setup as new phone. With identical settings as I had on my JB 3.0, my battery life is abysmal.

After JBing my 3GS to 3.1 I agree that the battery performance is not as good... seems ok in Standby, but when using the any apps or when the screen is on, the battery does not seem so good.

Will revert to 3.0 then JailBreak x 2 then try 3.1 and see if this makes things better.

is there a firmware downgrader anywhere?

Hold Option and click Restore in iTunes, choose any firmware you want, and you've downgraded. Very easy.

That wont work for the 3GS however.

Since you have a 3G, you can take your firmware up and down between 3.0 and 3.1 as you wish and JB at each version of firmware.

I caution you not to install official Apple 3.1 unless you never plan to unlock your phone.
