Has anyone noticed that battery life is significantly less under 2.1 than 2.0.2? I am seeing rapid drops in my battery.

For example, I routinely leave my iPhone unplugged overnight. With 2.0.2, my battery meter was at 100% the next morning despite it fetching email every 15 minutes. Now, I have probably around 10-15% drain.

Furthermore, as soon as I start using the device to browse the web, my battery life drops precipitously. Between the time I leave my house and get to work, my battery has dropped to 60% or less. I primarily read my newsfeeds during the 30 minute ride, so it's not like I'm supertaxing the thing.

The only caveat I'll add is that I'm using an external bluetooth dongle powered by the iPhone to transmit to my bluetooth headphones. But I was doing that with 2.0.2 and it didn't affect battery life this much.

Anyone else noticing really fast drain?

I bought Iphone after 2.1 release. I dono the battery was before 2.1. But as you said battery seems to decrease significantly once I start the browser. Looks like I need to buy a car charger soon if I want to browse while travelling.

I had the same problem with my iPhone 2G on the first day after the release of 2.1. So I drained the battery (playing a movie till iPhone shuts down) and went to an uninterrupted charging cycle. Now my battery life is better than under 2.0.2.

Another reason for the battery drain could be third party apps. If I am understanding it correctly, an app like AIM will continue to run till you start another third party app. If that's the case, just start a simple app that doesn't use wifi before you go to bed. That way, there shouldn't be any wifi/data traffic from third party apps at night.

battery life under 2.1

I notice a quick drain of battery after 2.1 installed. Check setting and noticed a new setting icon called Fetch new data. it was on and trying to refresh every 15 mins. Since i don't use this feature i turned it off and now my battery life is back to normal.

Yep.

Same thing. Charged my phone fully last PM. Talked on my phone for 4 min. today. SERIOUSLY. Thats all. (Im trying to figure this $#!t out). I didnt even access the internet. Not good.

Battery at 50% this eve. What is burning this battery!?!? No push/fetch, No location, No bluetooth, No WiFi, No 3g. Id rather have a little lag between iPhone applications rather than deal with this terrible batt. life. Oh, and NO added applications at all on my phone.

Just to make it worse, The people I hang with, have older iPhones, which sux because their chargers dont work with my 3G iPhone while in their cars. NICE.

Maybe I need to turn everything ON? Yea, that makes sense. I'll try it though.

No 3rd party apps run in the background. The app quits when you push the home button to return to the springboard.

I make a point of always going to Home screen before putting the iPhone to sleep. Location services off, wifi on, and I get 3 days of standby with 3 hrs usage. Go figure!
