I use my 2020 iPad 8th generation model for work now than I do my MacBook Air, and I get 2 full days before needing to plug it for charging. I would imagine by the time an iPad would need a battery replacement you’d be ready to upgrade the whole iPad.

That is not true. My 3-year old 12.9 iPad Pro needs a battery replacement while my iPhone X does not.
Just because your iPad battery needs a replacement doesn't mean by statement isn't true. It simply means your iPad battery needs a replacement.

Barring battery defect or excessive usage, the iPad battery will last longer than the iPhone battery. That was my point and it is true.

If an iPad battery last longer than an iPhone, it would have outlasted my iPhone X which it didn't. So your statement is not true.

It is just a regular battery inside in the end.

I have used my iPhone X a lot more than my 12.9 iPad Pro. There is really nothing special about the battery of an iPad Pro.

In fact, I am more impressed what Apple did with their iPhone 11 Pro Max as it probably has the best battery life out of any Apple device.

how much you use your device is not the main factor in battery wear...
the main factor is how you use it...
fast charging (and wireless charging) has a (negative) impact on battery wear
deep discharges, especially if the device is left dead for a long time, have a negative impact
leaving the device at 100% for a good part of the day or night (e.g. plugged in) also has a negative impact..
These factors have more impact on the battery than simple cycling (using the device on battery)
People tend to think that what makes a difference on long term wear is the device battery (e.g. x iPad wears more than y iPhone etc. or vice versa), while what probably makes the most difference is the (sometimes very) different usage of difference devices

I use a 5th Generation Basic iPad and still have no complaints about the battery, always used the charger that came with it. In my family there were/are an iPad 2 and an IPad Air 2, both never had any battery problems and have been used for years (the air 2 is still in use, the 2 was in use until the software was visibly slower).

This! Got my iPad Air 2 in 2014 and only upgraded it in 2020 due to the battery finally showing signs of having significantly aged.

Yes, it will. Apple will replace with a refurbished for the customer.
Good luck with that! Apple will do everything to not do it unless you pay a full replacement price, not battery service fee. Myself and many other tried. My iPad Pro 10.5 barely lasts 4 hours, but when Apple ran diagnostics, they told me that my battery was fine and refused to service it under out of warranty battery replacemen.
