Don’t know what the problem is but I have noticed my iPhone 12 has poorer battery life than my previous XR did. Perhaps it’s the 5G which will drain more battery. Anyone else notice this?

You need to take some basic trouble-shooting steps to try and ascertain the cause of your battery drain.

1) If you have 5G turned on, make sure it is not set to always be on.

2) Check your privacy settings in regards to location services and make sure there are no apps using your location you didn't know about.

3) Make sure all your apps (and OS) are up to date.

4) Check your screen brightness and Scree on Time. Look at which apps are using the most battery. You may be using your phone more than you realize.

If you still see higher battery drain than normal...

5) Reset network settings

6) Turn off 5G

7) If you still see excessive battery drain, consider wiping your phone and install as new.

Battery drain is not excessive it’s just not as good as the XR was. My settings are identical to what they were on the XR. 5G is set to auto and not always on.

FWIW I was having borderline horrible battery life on my SE (2020) until I jumped to the latest beta (14.5 b3). Now it seems “good.”

Battery usage is not a static number and never has been. Comparing your usage now to a different phone and point in time is not practical, especially if one is actually seeing excessive battery drain, which you just stated you aren't experiencing.

Battery usage changes hour to hour and day to day, even with the same phone and same apps. That doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem with the battery or the phone.

Cell signal from the carrier to our phone is never the same. Wifi signal even on a home network can change.

There are many variables involved in battery usage that we aren't always cognizant of. In my opinion, the prudent thing to do is look at the overall history of battery usage for the phone.

Do you browse a lot of pages in safari? I think that in that case OLED screen will consume more power. OLED is only good if you watch mostly movies where there is a lot of dark scenes. If you browse safari where most pages are light than battery will die quicker.

I know my devices are at the limits of what's supported, but both my A9 iPad 9.7" and my iPhone 6S (with a brand new battery) took a noticeable battery hit with iOS 14. Hasn't gotten better, hopefully a future update changes that before I don't get any more updates.
