Battery maintenance MBP C2D

I have found this site:

.... which basically says to be sure to actually use the battery from time to time to "keep the electrons in it moving".

This is my only computer and I use it daily. How often should I fully discharge my battery? Or should I just make sure I use it unplugged from time to time? How often?

Is it normal that sometimes while my MBP is plugged in, it only maintains the current battery level rather than charging it to full? Is this some kind of OS X battery management system (or does my comp have a problem) ?

Thanks for helping a n00b switcher. I've had the computer for 4 days now and I'm loving it. Since day 1 was over, its been a constant enjoyment as I discover all the neat features and efficiencies built in.

....if you use it for infrequent travel.... shown below:

If on the other hand, you use a desktop computer at work, and save a notebook for infrequent travel, Apple recommends charging and discharging its battery at least once per month.

Fully discharge it (calibrate it) every month or two and you'll be fine.

I found this site for calibration instrucitons. Doing it now while its new and then once every month or two sounds perfect.

But what about the fact that it doesn't always charge when plugged in (sometimes it just maintains the current battery level)...... Is this normal?

If your battery is at 95% or higher when you plug it in, it shouldn't charge. This helps prevent overcharging and undue stress on the battery.

Otherwise it should charge whenever you plug it in.
