Battery not charging

Hardware: 15" MBP, 1.83 GhZ, generally flawlesss in performance.
Problem: Battery is not charging.
Observations: When adaptor is plugged in, the light is green. The battery is only charged to 83%. In the menubar, the battery portion of the display is stuck on (Calculating...). It's not running hot or any other warning signs, the battery simply won't charge up. I can run it off the battery just fine. I haven't done anything weird or put any strange programs on it, except for running Software Update a couple days ago (the ExpressCard update downloaded).

Thoughts, theories, help?

Have you tried calibrating it? A good old-fashioned drain of the battery may get it to start charging again, or it may be fully charged but way, way off in reporting how full it actually is (in which case the calibration would take care of it).

Maybe also try removing and then re-seating your battery. Also, a PMU reset probably wouldn't go astray.

Update - apparently my battery qualified for the replacement program, after when I first checked some time ago it did not qualify. The replacement came today and I'm in the drain stage of calibrating. All seems to be well, but thanks for the replies.

Update corollary - who the devil shipped me the new battery? I mean I know Apple did, but what shipping company did they use. It just got dropped off on my carport and I have no idea where to take the old battery to post it back to Apple. If it's on the box, I can't find it.

Maybe they just don't want the old battery. I wouldn't bother trying too hard to send it back. Just use the new battery and enjoy.

Seeing as how there was also a letter enclosed saying that if I didn't post it back within 10 days they'd be charging me $145, I'm guessing it's a good idea to send it the old one back.

I just got a replacement box to send a nano back and the return label was actually under the shipping label. It was called an easy return label. It was through DHL.

Yeah Apple loves to use DHL. I guess they are cheaper,but less professional at the same time. I am surprised you didn't get a return box for your battery.

It's the same box, I just needed to verify at which carrier I needed to leave it. Nothing on the box or return label said DHL. Now I just have to find a DHL place here.
