Hi,

Ive recently was forced to use my old mbp late 2011 for work. On the go it had the gpu problem which was fixed with the help of. one of the guided in this forum.

the problem now is, the mbp doesnt charge until its fully drained. by that i mean getting the mbp dead and waiting 8 hours more. at first i thought it was the magsafe charger but i used a different one and it charged.

i did an smc reset and it still didnt solve the problem

any thoughts?

i have not looked into that and im not privy to that info as well. for the sake of educating an ignorant man, how do i do a verified smc reset? i just did a simultaneous hold on shift option control and power button.

And you held all of those for a full ten seconds, right?

Assuming you did, then you reset the SMC. The only other things I can think of (since you say it's not the charger) is that you might have a bad port or power board. Either way the machine would require service.
