Hey all,

I own an iPhone 3G, jailbroken on 3.0 of course, and I wanted the battery percentage indicator in the menu bar just like the 3GS. To do this, I installed asBattery in Cydia from the repository http://apt.iphone-storage.de. This installation makes the official Apple toggle for the percentage indicator appear under General > Usage. When the phone is fully charged, both the battery indicator in the "Free Memory" app and the indicator in the menu bar say 100%. However, the percentage in the menu bar will stay at 100% until the percentage in the "Free Memory" app reaches 96%, at which point the percentage in the menu bar drops to 99%. Here's a picture of Free Memory displaying 95% and the menu bar displaying 98%. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Sorry, not familiar with this app but you should try installing SBSettings--gives toggles for everything from Home screen with a swipe of your finger across the top of the screen (without going into Settings, i.e. Wifi, BT, 3G) as well as ability to force close applications and provide current free memory and % battery indication at the top line of the phone. Basically it eliminates need to enter Settings for a ton of things--can't remember them all as I don't have my 3Gs jailbroken yet.

ive noticed the battery meter is a little off on the 3g and 1st gen but not the 3gs. try calibrating your battery (run it all the way down to 0 then wait 5 hours and recharge it)

@tbayrqs - I do have SBSettings installed but read somewhere on these forums that the toggle for percentage somehow drained the battery more often than usual. Someone else in that thread responded with the link to the asBattery thing that I installed.

@impulse462 - My battery meter (both on Free Memory and in the menu bar) was stuck at 100% yesterday, so after awhile of usage I restarted my phone and both Free Memory and the menu bar had the same percentage, oddly enough. But of course, once they both got up to 100% again, the same problem occurred once the battery started being used again.

I'm confused, haha.

Battery percentage being off is nothing new to apple machines, my mac book pro is off sometimes by more sometimes by less. It is recommended that when this happens to let the battery drain complete and then have it charge to 100% without interrupting the charge (unplug and plug)
