Anyone know what might cause this?
My battery was at 17%, clicked over to 16% and I got the "20% battery life remaning" notification.
Anyone else have similar problems?
i have the same issue as well. using batterydetective shows battery charge at roughly 80% whereas the status bar shows full charge.
device: iphone 4s
Just do a recalibration.
(Let the battery die, let it rest for 8h and do then a FULL charge)
I'd rather just let it die, then recharge. I've heard letting it sit empty causes crystals to form in the battery and that that decreases potential charge. 8 hours seems a little much.
Lithium ion batteries are best served to keep the electrons constantly moving. Therefore letting it sit completely dead for any extended period of time is really bad for the battery's health.
Use iPhone Regularly
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, its important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Yeah well, Apple knows better I think
I've heard leaving your battery dead for several hours is bad.

So what exactly did you prove with that quote from Apple's site?

Proof leaving your battery dead for several hours isn't bad!:
...I'm not sure I see your logic. And for the record I fully drain my iPhone one to two times per month because I know it is recommended and I know it is 'good' for the battery.![]()

Thanks. That's all I was trying to say. I don't want people accidentally ruining their batteries because of false information on this thread. I take a lot of pride in picking my spots where I'm knowledgeable and I post feedback to help fellow members. Recalibration is a good thing to do monthly. I always do it and my battery life is terrific. Nearly as strong as when I first got my 4S a year ago.
So I got under your skin because of the 8h comment? OK guys, I'm so sorry and I apologize to any forum user who now has a dead phone due to my post.
spreading poor information isn't welcome anywhere.
I have the BatteryCenter tweak installed in my notification center and I just noticed that it's reading three points lower than what's reported in my status bar (55% vs 58%). Weird.
