Hi,

I am about to buy a Macbook air but there's this question that I have and that I haven't found any answers here yet: Everyone says that their MBA lasts for about 5 hours while doing wifi.

I wanted to ask you guys how long does the MBA battery lasts for without wifi connection, i.e. when you're just entering text. I'm a writer so most of my days I'm just at a cafe terrasse writing articles and I want to know how many hours of work I can hope to do without the wifi .

Thanks

JULIEN

I don't know who has been getting 5 hours out of their MBA on battery. Most people average 3.5-4 hours. I'm sure you could get 5 hours out of it on battery with airport & bluetooth turned off and the screen brightness turned down, I haven't tried anything like that though.

As far as I am concerned I seldom get 5 hours but rather 4.30 hours. However, it is not difficult to get to 5 hours if you think as a driver trying to "eco drive".

Launch only one app at a time, reduce almost everything, don't hesitate (avoid closing and opening programs all the time).

Not sure that's a good way to relax though :).

Dear,

With WIFI and bluetooth turned off I got more then 6,5 a 7 hours performance with only typing and reading PDF documents.

The LED screen is gorgeous. When I use my MBA in the train with a lot of sunlight, it is amazing to see how sharp and clear this screen remains. With my former Powerbook G4 it was impossible to use it in heavy sunlight.

With kind regards,
Bas

I get around 4 hours just surfing the web and checking email. I watched Steve Job's speech at the WWDC (1:45 minutes) and my battery went from 100% to 15% I'm not sure how much WIFI uses but I would like to think I could watch a 2 hour movie on the plane without my battery dying :(
