Battery question on usage.

Newbie question on how long battery should last.

My daughter just tested the life of the battery doing the following
1. Playing an online game (something like club penguin etc) using wifi and safari.
2. Instant messaging at the same time.

She was using safari.

Battery seemed to be ready to die around 3 1/2 hours. This seems really short. But I am not sure if what she was doing would be extra drain?

Online games almost always use Flash. This is real battery hog...
You don't say which model you have but it seems to be reasonable.

The advertised times are for light web-browsing, Flash enabled websites are much worse (and the reason new Air's ship without Flash).

You can use ClickToFlash which will let you decide what flash content you want to use. It helps when browsing but when gaming, you have to use flash. 3.5 hours sounds normal when dealing with heavy flash content such as games.

Try the new 10.2 version of flash, it reduces CPU usage and might give you an extra hour of battery life.

This topic was battered to death on these forums, please search for it.

Nothing is black and white, and so is not the Flash issue.
You cannot really avoid Flash altogether, and you will quickly see disadvantages of using Flash *intensive* websites.

You can lookup "ClickToFlash" and relatives, some people like this solution.
It does not appeal to me as a good one though...
