Battery Question?

I posted this in my thread but I thought this question deserves attention (I did try searching) I have my charger plugged into my MBP it flashes green. I had it unplugged today while I had my memory upgraded and now ive replugged it back in but the charge is at 96% and hasnt moved all afternoon? Is it because im using it? What should I do? Thanks. I know I have to calibrate the battery once a month as well (I think) Edit: It says battery is charged but only shows 96%?

Ahh, that's all cool. To avoid constant charging and discharging the battery only charges once it falls below 95%. The fact it's not charging at 96% is a good thing.

As I sort of addressed in the other thread you just posted in, calibration may help your computer get better info from your battery. But it's nothing to worry about. Mine is currently "charged" at 96% as well. It's pretty rare that mine tops out at 100%...96-98% is more normal for me.

Don't worry about it. The charging circuitry doesn't start charging if you plug the computer in with more than 95% battery power, as previous posters have mentioned. This is to keep your battery from being unnecessarily overworked. If the battery is less than 95% when it is plugged in, it will charge straight to 100% provided it isn't unplugged for some reason along the way.

i second that! My ibook will allow me to run the battery down to 96% and when i plug it back in, it won't start charging again as long as it was fully charged before being unplugged (or said fully charged). If you really need to see it back up at one hundred just use it down to under 95% and when you plug it back in it should charge back up to 99-100

Just a quick FYI, new batteries should be calibrated immediately.

Before beginning the calibration process should the battery be filled to 100% or is a green plug ok? Coconut Battery reports less capacity if I calibrate with the battery at say 96%.

If the plug is green then it's not charging so it won't hit 100%. Having said that, it shouldn't go green until it hits 100%. Irrespective, unplug it once the light is green.
