A little bit of a different question...

using my MBA (only have Safari open during this described event) - the battery "countdown" fluctuated quite considerably.

It would change from 5hrs to 4:28 to 4:45 to 4:50 to 4:38 to 4:15 when it got to 2 hours the drop to 1 hour was quite fast (i.e. LESS than an hour! :) )

I know this is all "user dependent"

Anyone else notice this?

Mine does the same thing and so does my MacBook pro. On charging from say 60% up it will say maybe 45 mins to full charge and then when it gets to 75-80% charge it slows way down and says 2 hours for the last 20%. I have spoken to Apple about this and they are saying its normal.

It seems to jump a lot, but maybe it's just very very accurate and shifts quickly based on whatever you're doing at the moment? I've never noticed that kind of rapid fluctuation on my MBP. Battery meters are never very reliable since they can't really predict future usage.
