Hello, I have AppleCare+ on my 2nd gen 12.9 iPad Pro. According to coconut battery it has been charged 500 times and is at 82% battery. It feels like it. Battery life is way down. The screen is going too, white spots and edges.

I have a Genius Bar appt next week. Will they just swap a new one for me? Will it just be an old one will an old manufacturer battery? Do they even make the parts?

I could also upgrade. I do have a 11 M1 pro which I got because I was tired of taking huge one around, could consolidate I guess.

Just musing and deciding what to do.

Chances are it won’t pass battery replacement but with the screen defects, the replacement should be covered for $0 warranty repair cost with AppleCare+.

They’ll likely give you a refurb replacement but those are just as good as new.

You can then sell or trade-in the like-new 12.9 2nd gen more easily and for more $ depending on what you ultimately decide.

A plain box replacement is my experience. Unsure what history it might have.

Lol, in my experience, they don’t even give you the box for in-store replacement. Just the iPad alone. No charger, cable or packaging.

Chances are it’s likely refurbished at this point. Doubt they still have new.

I might just purchase a refurbished iPad Pro 4. Could sell the 2nd gen so it would not be too much extra. I really like the 2nd gen Apple Pencil over the 1st.

Just to be clear, all of my replacements (iPad, iPhones) have been in a plain flat white boxes, not the retail boxes shipped with new products. Actually, now that I think of it, my iPad was replaced via FedEx rather than in the store. It came in a plain shipping box, not the new product box.

I think I got the same plain white box for an express replacement iPhone. That was during the lockdown though and all Apple retail stores were closed.

I normally prefer going in-store for service and for that they don't give you anything except the replacement device itself.

Well, upon contemplation, I just bought a like new from reputable seller iPad Pro 12.9 5th generation for 730. I will go ahead and sell the second.

Yes, the plain white boxes are Apple Refurbished packaging.

The refurbished boxes specifically say refurbished in the packaging and are thicker since it contains accessories.

The warranty replacements are in thinner boxes (just plain white I don't remember seeing any markings) that house just the device.

Ah gotcha. I just know that a family member’s refurbished iMac box only had one mention of being refurbished anywhere.
