Hey guys,

I'm contemplating taking my iPad Pro 10.5" (2017) to Apple for a new battery. Does anyone have any experience with devices that are no longer being made? From my understanding, if the device is still available, Apple will just give you a new one, like they do with iPhone coverage (the model is a refresh but basically brand new).

Or will Apple simply send it off, get a tech to swap the battery and then send it back?

Cheers

There will be refurb models available for device swap out, which is what they do for battery replacements for some devices (I think the IPP is one of them)

For iphone, they actually replace the battery in you device, for ipads they replace the device. If they have it in stock it will be faster otherwise it will take a bit longer... Your old device will generally be sent to Asia where they will change the battery and the case and create a refurbished device that is either sold or used for more battery swaps...

I would assume it's any iPad that is classified as obsolete (see apple's list on their website for vintage products)

Thanks. I'll take it in and update this thread with my experience 🙏
