Battery saving mode in control center

why is the low power mode not accessible through the control center? Seems only logical to me.
Could some of the beta testers maybe report this to apple? I think it would be much better.

Maybe putting it there suggests you will need to deal with a weak battery so they have left this to a setting deeper in the settings. If I were asking for anything it would be the option to pick what was in Control Center and not focus just on this one setting. I get what you're saying though.

I agree I wish that option was available in CC.

However, when your phone hits 20% it automatically brings a prompt up asking if you'd like to enable the mode, and in addition you can set it up to have Launcher enable it.

I'm not able to get this to work with launcher. There is an widget option for 'battery usage' and when i set this up it defaults to the 'general' screen in settings, and does not even enter the battery settings area. How did you get this to work?

This works on my iPhone. You have to do a custom URL because the default setting in Launcher is designed up to iOS 8. The scheme changed in iOS 9.

Because the intent of battery-saving mode is to kick in only when your phone's battery level gets very low?

The intent was never for you to toggle it on when your phone is at 100% and to permanently throttle your phone's performance just to get 2 day battery life.

Apple should of made control center user configurable as of iOS8 let alone iOS9 :-0

Something very similar to Ryan Petrichs FlipControlCenter would be perfect! And how hard can it be? Come on Apple it's time an in house Flipswitch was developed and users were able to control control center as they see fit! It's meant to be a powerful area to control key aspects of your iOS device yet it's embarrassingly limited with no user configuration options!

So you are saying the bluetooth switch should be removed from control center to prevent people from calling Apple Care because continuity isn’t working?

The low power mode reduces network speeds, cpu speeds, mail fetches, how fast the screen dims and other battery saving functions so unless you are really low on battery and will not have access to a charger for several hours there is no real reason to use the power reserve mode.

With that being said it makes no sense to put an "emergency" toggle into the control center next to other toggles that are used more often in day to day use.

I know that it changes CPU speed. It's just that the iPhone 6 and even the iPhone 5s has so much power available that you simply don't notice the throttling unless you are playing a game.

I haven't seen any proof of the network actually working slower yet and I am pretty sure that that's just pure speculation.

The purpose of the low powder mode is to extend your battery life a bit further when you are running low if you cannot get to a charger any time soon. It sounds like you intend to run in this mode on/off during the day for no reason. Am I right?

Being able to set cpu throttling on a per app basis would be cool! So you can have it turned off for games and photo editing apps etc but turned on for lesser apps or springboard alone... How hard could that be to implement? Hey Apple, another form of power saving right there and half the work is already done

It depends. Sometimes I would do just that.
But I would mainly use it if I knew that it would be some time till I could recharge and wanted to act proactively. No point in letting the phone run down to 20% and be scared about missing calls or mail when I could just enable it long before that and have peace of mind.

I know its not a huge issue and launcher will take care of that for me but the control center is basically made just for that and you don’t really need to turn on and off wifi or bluetooth that often, either. So it would be a nice feature.

Also, I reallly don’t understand why the wifi and bluetooth menus don’t open when you hold down on their icons in control center? Because apple wants to use force touch for that?control center just seems like a lot of wasted potential to me.

How often does the average user go into WiFi/BlueTooth settings in order to justify putting it as a Control Center short cut? Both of those settings are at the top of the page of the settings app if you need to actually get there for whatever reason. Also, we have to memorize all these shortcuts.

iOS 9 introduced the Proactive spotlight screen and I keep forgetting it's there. I still do things the old way.

Now a single press could even trigger a long press, and a double click. Oh, hell.
Instead, to prevent others from searching my device to accidentally send strange message to me, or to prevent continuity instant hotspot working as they say, I often need to close or open Bluetooth.
Although, I don't really think, putting power reserve mode button in control centre could bring much benefits.

I may understand why apple add new functions very carefully.
Users from Android would seriously miss the freedom of customising their phone. But iPhone is not. It must keep a unified experience, in apple's eyes.

I don't say locking users from modifying anything is good, however if apple start doing so, this might be the beginning of the end. Although, I also think, Apple still seals itself into the shell it created to, um, protect itself. Or something others?
