Well, after hearing about all of these battery problems and being thankful that I don't have any...i do.

My battery "health" is fluxuating between 87% and 98%. I tried to do a calibration but all that did was send it to 87%. Now after a partial charge it's reading 98%...i'm stumped!

Now for the tougher one: When I close the lid of my MBP it should go to sleep.
Not any more...it just sits there and makes that "waking-up" noise. I closed it this morning and put in it's bag and then transported it by car for 15 minutes.
When I got to my destination I heard it making that "waking-up" noise twice. I the opened up the bag and pulled it out. it was on, the fans were running...at 6000 RPM!!!! It was nearly sweating from being in the bag and being that warm. It still wouldn't come out of sleep mode (the screen was black but with cursor) so I had to hold the power button to turn it off and then it booted up normally.

I honestly have no idea whats happening, please help! I plan on calling Apple this afternoon if there aren't any known fixes.

Thanks!!

since it was ok before, maybe there is some program you installed or prefs you changed that don't let your machine go to sleep

I did change the sleep prefs (when to put display to sleep on battery etc) but I've put those back to where they were and it's still doing the same thing.

Well, after spending 56 minutes on the phone with Apple support I had ended up with a new battery and no fix for the sleep problem.

After a bit of "back/forth" I did an Archive and Install of OSX...everything works great now! Sleep and all...still getting the new battery though :)
