Does anyone know why battery usage (Time Since Last Full Charge) disappears after a reboot? This never happened under previous versions of iOS.

I've had my iPhone 7 since launch day and I think I've only seen the full battery usage list 2 or 3 times, the rest of the time, it's not there.

It always shows on my 9.7 iPP - same iOS release - so who knows.

It always disappeared after reboot. That's because(I presume) it's difficult to gauge the impact of the boot process on the battery.

It has started with iOS 10. I believe it does it now because before standby would go up, even if the phone was entirely powered off. Because that was time since last fully charged. This way it wipes it if the phone is off so it does not skew the numbers.

I can confirm that iOS 9 does this too, and I'm quite certain that's how it was with iOS 8.

To which part, clearing out the numbers on a reset or standby increasing while device is shut off? If its the former, that did not start until iOS 10 Beta 1. A hard reboot or a springboard crash has always reset the battery stats, but a soft reboot has never until iOS 10.

I can definitely confirm that on iOS 8 and iOS 9, the usage stats. remained after a reboot. It sounds like you are confusing a reset (holding the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same) with a reboot.

Just rebooted my phone on iOS 9.3.3. Slide to Power Off->Boot.
Can reaffirm.

Then you are the only one that is having that issue. This absolutely does not happen in iOS 9. I just checked a 9.3.5 device. Standby time and usage time remains after a reboot.

One thing I remember is if you powered off (slide not hard reset) it would stay UNLESS it was off for a few minutes. If you turned it off and left it for maybe 5 min then the battery stats would zero out just like a hard reset. Only a quick reboot would the battery stats remain. But yeah since iOS 10 any power down at all resets battery stats.

And idea why this has changed?

That's the great thing about forums - we can talk to many different people and "crowd-source" information.

Doesn't seem like anyone knows. It's just how it is in iOS 10 so far, either by design or perhaps due to some glitch/bug.

better like this, reboots pull huge amounts of power. total shutoff leaves regular battery leakage drain to take over, if those arent battery life skewing i dont know what is

Perhaps this is it.

I have 5 different devices ranging from iOS 8 to iOS 10.2 beta and ALL of them lose the stats after a reboot. This has been happening for a long time now.

A soft reboot? That is 100% not the case on my iPhone 4, 4s, and iPad 2 ranging from iOS 7-9.

Up to iOS 10 the usage/standby information would remain if the device was simply shut down and then separately started up (perhaps if it wasn't off for too long), and only if an actual reset or forced restart was used would that information disappear.

As of iOS 10, basically as long as the device gets powered off, whether it's part of a reset, restart, shut down, etc., that information would disappear.

If I turn my devices on or off, hard reboot, or what would be considered a respring, I lose battery stats. And in another thread I saw that this is the same for a vast majority of people. It's happened honestly since I can remember and just thought it was the way that Apple designed it.

On iOS 10 yes, anything before iOS 10, then no. It has never once been the case that a soft reboot resets battery stats until iOS 10 Beta 1. That has been mentioned in thread after thread.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/battery-stats-gone-after-restart.2008804/

Its normal for iOS 10, and only iOS 10.

I literally just searched 13 pages of search results for the terms "battery", "usage" and "reset" in different combinations of the above words. Not a single thread exists for this issue before iOS 10.
