Has anyone noticed in the Settings that you can view your Usage/Standby for the battery? I charged the phone for a long long time and it still tells me that usage times will be shown after the iPhone is fully charged.

Does anyone have any readings already for this?

i played with the iphone for hours on youtube until it died, then left it to charge overnight on the wall charger. Now the readings work.

Is there any indication that the battery is fully charged like the plug icon on the iPods? Or do we simply assume it's full when the meter is full?

It didn't say fully charged but the green battery was full to the tip. I then unplugged it and went into settings and saw that is says time since last full charge and it was 0.

Exactly, just so people don't try to wait for it to say it's fully charged. If the green battery is full then that's it.

When the Battery is Full u'll see a lil A/C icon on the battery.. just like u do on the ipod, MacBook Pro. If u see a lighting blot that means it's still charging..!!!

There was no icon on mine or my buddies phone. Are you sure about this and do you have an iPhone to check?

So I'm guessing cycling the battery may activate the usage statistics. Mine will fully charge but the usage part won't activate yet. I'm getting the A/C icon but I haven't yet let the battery deplete completely. Hmmm...

Yes. When the Battery is Fully Charged you will see a A/C icon on TOP of the battery just like u see on an ipod, macbook pro, etc...

battery doesn't charge beyond 90%?

Hi...first post here...

It seems like my iPhone won't charge beyond 90% or so....The green is close to the end of the battery but it's not quite all the way...anyone having a similar issue?

Thanks...

To clarify, there are TWO batteries. The BIG one has no icons overlay. Look at the one to the upper right, the tiny one that is always there. You will see a bolt when charging and a plug when charged.

As for the 90%. It seems that last bit take a little while to charge, as if its calibrating or something. Mine charged fast until there, then it took almost an hour to finish. At least, that was my experience.

Mine is doing that too. I'm going to play with it until the battery drains completely. I recommend you try this too.

So I let the battery drain until it shut off. Then I plugged it in to the wall outlet. After a few hours, it still thought it had 5%. I found this works out though.

1) iPhone turned on
2) Plugged into wall charger
3) Charge for few hours
4) Turn off iPhone
5) Unplug wall charger
6) Wait ~10 secs
7) Turn on iPhone
8) Battery indicator correctly shows battery amount in top right corner

Tried restoring the iPhone through iTunes and still showing battery at 80%. I guess it is a firmware thing. But this is very frustrating. I am not happy that after paying $600+ something simple like a battery indicator doesn't correctly report the battery amount. My usage data is still not populated.

Return it o APple for exchange!

I had the same issue, battery would only go to 90% and my usage stats would never start up. Brought it to apple and even though they were sold out of the 8 GB phones, they had a stash in the back just for exchanges. They gave me a new one, popped my sim into the new one and it worked. Brought it home, charged it fully and it is charging to 100% and my usage stats work.

No problem exchanging it at all. No way I was going to pay $600 plus tax for a phone with a shoddy battery.

How do you guys know what percentage the battery is at? Mine just has a visual icon.

I'm just estimating it based on the battery icon when it is charging. When charging, press the sleep button to lock the phone. Then unlock by pressing the sleep or home button. The amount of green in the battery is what I am estimating. Not sure about others.

Did you have to make a reservation with a Genius? And they exchanged it the very same day?
