Battery won't charge past 99%

The magsafe light is red, won't turn green. In the last 2 weeks that I've owned this computer I've never used it without the magsafe adapter so I'm not sure why the battery needs to be charged to begin with? It's sat at 99% now for over 2 hours, magsafe light still red. I've provided a screenshot. Ideas?

Did you install the Intel MacBook/MacBook Pro battery update?

Alright, I'm new to the forum, have never owned a mac, or even a laptop for that matter.

I have however been doing my fair share of reading and there are a few other threads like this I've found. The problem is the battery won't attempt to charge unless it is partially drained to prevent overcharging. Since it's had a nearly full charge and has not been using the battery, the charge has not decreased or increased.

Run the battery down a decent amount and plug in the power adapter and it should charge it all the way up. If not you can always calibrate your battery by draining the power completely and giving it a fresh charge.

unplug it and let the battery run down and then recharge it, if you leave it plugged in all the time it will eventually cause the battery to not hold as much of a charge as it should.

It has to discharge past 97% or 96% before it will charge back up to 100%. This is to prevent overcharging. If it is 97% - 99% it won't charge.
