Sup, i just received a used edition of Battlefield 2142, its a legal version.
I put the dvd in my iMac, it showed up like normal, dragged into applications, entered code, agreed on terms then it just shuts down, when i open it from applications it wants to open but within a second it shuts down from the dock.

Some spec info:

iMac 21''
3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
8Gb 1067 MHz DDR3
NVidia GeForce 9400 256 MB

Its pretty new, bought it less than a year ago, so the iMac should be good.

I tried things i read somewhere about installing it from a different admin account, and patching it, did all of this, nothing works.

Any tips?

Yeh, well the patch said 'Battlefield2142-485and941A-to-1512.zip'
I dont know if thats the right one, but it did completely patch.

I had a similar problem on my iMac too. The only way I fixed it was that I had a successful install on my MBP, so I just copied to good install from the MBP to the iMac. Otherwise I couldn't figure it out.

Myeh well that sucks, since i dont have another mac :p
Any1 other idea's?

if its a legit copy... email support.

being its second hand, its probably not that useful because the CD key will not work to register a new online account.. they only work once, and the previous owner probably used it.. You can probably still use the game for the single player, which is extremely limited and boring after a few games.

Email support.

You can probably pick up a new copy of BF2142 for Mac or PC on eBay and use the serial number to register if you have any issues.

Let us know what happens and what your performance is like. I found that the Mac version of BF2142 performed very badly compared to PC.

I'm not gonna ask but assume you tried to search the MR Forums for "Battlefield 2142" but have you tried the following posts?

One thing to try is to wipe it completely from system, delete app, delete preferences, etc. Appzapper works great for this. Reinstall and totally update without running the game at all. Meaning install ALL updates including punkbuster before cranking it up.

Others have had this issue long ago, I just can't find the fix for it since I don't play the game anymore I deleted all my subscriptions to the posts.

Also, EA does have a support forums for the Mac version of Battlefield 2142, I have posted a lot in there as well. Have to search for it cuz again, I deleted all references to that site since I no longer play the game.
