Ok, so I am making my decision between Quake Wars and BF2142, and I may even get a chance to get one of those tonight with both my eyes at Quake Wars Enemy Territory, I am still aware of BF2142. I know titan mode is cool, but thats not going to convince me. Since its kind of hard to find someone whose played both in full versions. Maybe there are people who played both the 2142 and 1942 versions of BF. I played 1942, and, uhh, hated it. Not only the graphics, but the aiming (targeting) of the weapons were bad, and I didn't really like the whole "thing" of the game. For those who have played both versions, is 2142 much different than 1942 besides being in the future, battling the europeans (i think), different storyline, and cooler weapons? Is the feel of the game the same? I know the maps are gonna be miles different, but like how you play. I don't want to buy a game like 1942, I really hated that.

dude... download the demo

never played 1942, but i'm guessing it's come a long way since then. They introduced battlefield 2, and THEN 2142. (so 2142 is like battlefield 3).

again though, download the demo. Before I bought the game I played the demo and there were a couple of really good demo servers. And by really good I mean servers that had a lot of people in them. (the quake wars servers for the demo were mostly bots with very few people).

Now, I don't know if 2142 still has enough people playing the demo, but i played on a very nice 24 vs. 24 titan server that convinced me to buy the game. And at that point, I was basing my decision only on playing the Assault class - without any unlocks of course. When I bought the game I then became proficient in the three other classes as well, and started using vehicles too. I don't like playing commander, but even without that, I still got many months of fun out of the game.

The game is definitely not like a Battlefield 3. Battlefield 2 came out years after BF1942 and definitely looks and plays leaps and bounds over its predecessor. After playing the BF1942 demos, I didnt like the gameplay enough to purchase the game. After trying out BF2, I can't stop playing it. Its fantastic. Now, you could consider BF2142 a mod of BF2. It uses the same graphics engine and basic gameplay tactics. However, it is more futuristic and the are differences that I didn't really take the time to get used to.

Based on my experience with BF2, I would say definitely go for BF2142. I've read that it isn't very good on the mac side, but for windows it runs just fine. I have played the quake wars demo and the whole alien thing didnt work out for me. =/ happy gaming!

2142 is based purely around online play. if you are looking for single player, definitely DONOT get BF2142. i have never played quake wars, but it looks kind of cool. As for the 1942, i have never played it on line, but it was OK. one of my favorite all time shooters was Battlefield2. it has amazing online play, and single player is ok for learning the game if you play it on a harder setting. the only down side is it doesnt come on macs. if you want my advice get a copy of BF2, its only $10 now and test it out. also download a demo of quake wars and see which one you like better. im a big fan of BF2 especially online, but in my opinion, BF2142 is not nearly as good as BF2.

Touché

I believe 2142 started off as a mod for battlefield 2.
