I've been looking to play an fps to hold me over until my new cooler arrives for my gaming rig (current pump died).
I'm trying to find an FPS game with battlefield like gameplay (vehicles, air support, large maps) and must be online capable.
Native to Mac.

Thanks for any suggestions!

nice
maybe i'll check that out.

cod4 is on my wish list, once I can find a cheap nib version.

I was thinking 2142 since I never played it on the PC, but I don't know how active the community is on that game.

Active enough. I still go there on occasion and never want for a map with plenty of people. Sure a lot fewer than BF2 (i play that on a PC) and a caveat: The smaller number of users makes for some INCREDIBLY good players. I'm no slouch, but some of these players blow my mind.

I have the Battlefield with all my life. I think COD sucks really. My friends are starting to agree with me. Although we all know overrated now. I think BF is more real, the explosions are mind blowing, and I just cannot wait for my birthday so I can play full version

BF2 is the finest ever I think. BF2 Bad Company is INCREDIBLE, HARD AS HELL, and most times so hard to play I get frustrated.

DOD Source is absolute trash compared to BF.

I used to play DOD all the time and then I played BF BC2 for a while. Tried to go back and it plays like junk.

For me it's the other way around, I hate BF BC2 and the original, both for their slow, clunky gameplay (slow isn't bad, but how Battlefield implements it is), and for guns that take up a third of the screen.

The only thing I don't like about 2142 is the futuristic aspect of it, it doesn't interest me at all.

I prefer the Battlefield series over Call of Duty any day for the team play and environments. I just wish there was something similar to bad company 2 (which I freaking love!) on the mac that I can play. CSS isn't filling my needs, neither is L4D2; they've actually both been uninstalled to make room for something new and better. Now I just need to find that "new and better."

I'm thinking about bootcamping for bc2, but I really dont want to throw 40gigs away just for bc2 in all honesty.

I almost did it last night but just opted to use my bro's PC instead.

Last time I Boot Camped I was able to overclock my 8600GT quite a bit and my CPU to about 3.125GHz to run BC2 on 1440x900 medium at a very playable framerate.

I no longer have Apple Care though so I don't want to risk frying anything :D
