The BBC says I cannot view live sports because Safari's last update with OS 12 and later does not apply internet rules in the same way as the browsers.
Apple says that BT is working on it.
I cannot get any definitive answers as to the reason or to when this problem will be fixed.
My default browser is for the moment Firefox (just to reduce password complexity).
The problem has, for the first time extended beyond 0.1 updates on both OS & Safari which has ominous overtones.
Apple & BT ask regularly whether or not recent updates have solved the problem but, so far I can only answer in the -ve..
Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome, bearing in mind I have already completed OS reinstall, security changes, etc..

You can try to manually set the DNS servers to the ones provided by BT.
According to https://www.increasebroadbandspeed.co.uk/uk-isp-dns-server-settings, they are
62.6.40.178
62.6.40.162
194.72.9.38
194.72.9.34
194.72.0.98
194.72.0.114
194.74.65.68
194.74.65.69
Change DNS settings in Network preferences on Mac https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh14127/12.0/mac/12.0

From Terminal for Ethernet:

networksetup -setnetworkserviceenabled Ethernet off

dscacheutil -flushcache

networksetup -setdnsservers Ethernet 62.6.40.178 194.72.9.38

networksetup -setnetworkserviceenabled Ethernet on

I have no idea what this is all about.
Things either work or they do not. My days of opening things and trying to outguess the manufacturers/suppliers are WELL gone. Actually the day I threw my last Windows machine out my office window. If I muck it up, "who do I call/blame?".
