Now that the Base Mac Mini Pro is $1,100 at Amazon and B&H I may pull the trigger and not wait for a refurb. But the return policy of B&H is the deal killer. This is from the rep on their chat to clarify the return policy:

"Computers are not returnable unless they are unopened or defective during the first 30 days from the delivery date. If defective, we will replace it with the exact same model or offer a refund. If it's unopened you are responsible for paying return shipping fees."

I purchased a couple M1 MBPs from them when B&H had in stock and Apple had 1-2 month lead-time. I received one that was clearly defective, but was able to return directly to the store since I live in NYC. They were great about it, but don't think I'd take the chance if I didn't live in NYC. Also, they charge list so it makes more sense to buy from Apple because of their very liberal return policy.

That really depends on what you're buying, in the past they've had some good deals that I've taken advantage of. Shortly after introducing the 2018 Mini, they blew out their 2014 Mini stock with the base model for about $350, I got one of the higher spec configurations for $500. At that time, Apple was still selling the exact same model for about $1000 as a refurb. Also got several good deals on MacBook Airs over the years.

But it's true, their return policy is strict, that has been the case for many years.

I've purchases a lot from B&H over the years but have always purchased direct from Apple for computers/laptops due their return policy. For me, it is worth a few bucks more to have the freedom to return if I change my mind. Plus, it seems almost all of the sales on non pro models are exclusively configurations with the base 8 GB of memory which is a deal killer for me.

I noticed the same thing.
