That says it's for the 2.0 update, which is chargeable.

Are you sure you had 2.1?? Maybe actually you had 1.x.

Did you click on a 'upgrade to 2.0' link or something similar in the iTunes store instead of just checking for an update?

I just clicked the update button. I think this system should be idiotsproof. iTunes have to decide the type of the update/upgrade, right ?

Wow, I can't believe that happened. Alternatively, you could just download future updates here to avoid this problem.

All iPod touches come with the 1.x software. You must have updated to 2.x and iTunes charged you for that. None of the iPod touches, regardless of generation, come with 2.x firmware.

Excuse me? All iPod Touches come with 2.x installed on them. What have you been reading? Why would Apple put months old software on brand new iPods? If they're like the iPhone 3G, they can't even be downgraded to 1.x firmwares. I would probably check facts before posting.

Why are you so ticked off? It was a mistake, I remembered incorrectly that the 2G did not have the 2.x firmware. No need for you to get all upset. If an employer hired you and he made a small mistake, would you get all ticked off? Chill.

I can make deference between 1.x and 2.x ... I am a developer myself and i am 100% sure that all ipod touch 2g have 2.1 OTB.

Something else.... Just an idea. What will happen if a new update comes out, let's say 2.4 or something and i put my ipod touch 2.2 in restore mode and install the new firmware ? I am pretty sure i will be charged again...

This is a huge development nonsense Apple !

Your information was misleading, that's why ;) You'd post the same response to someone if they posted goobledegook.
