My system has been locking up the last few days. I see the beach ball and on my istat bar my cpu shows I'm at 190%+ ???

Safari is the one program that is open. I have managed to turn off my internet connection so Safari can't be sending or receiving any data ... I hope.

Do I have a Virus?

How can I force Safari to close? The beach ball prevents me from closing Safari in the usual way. I have very limited access to my iMac Late 2009

I using my PC to write to call for assitance

You can open up Activity Monitor and check what's locking stuff up.

You can click on the Apple in the top left and then Force Quit, find Safari and force quit it.

You can control click Safari in the Dock, and if it only says Quit instead of Force Quit, you can press Option while that menu is open and Force Quit will appear.

If that doesn't work, try to shut down/restart, and if that doesn't work, just hold the power button long enough for it to shut down. Reboot and you're fine.

Thanks, But downloading google Chrome seems to have fixed it

>>> Now that i regained control i did that. good idea.

>>> I didn't realize this was available. This worked and forced safari to quit!!!

I downloaded Google Chrome. Then I reopened Safari. Safari is now working super fast. Hope that doesn't happen again.

Thank you for your assistance!!!:D
