I'm intrigued by the new Bedtime function within the Clock app, which feeds data into the Health app under Sleep -> Sleep Analysis.

I have used it for the last two nights, and for both times I've left my iPhone 6 on bedside table. Both times it has recorded the entire period as 'In Bed' and none of the time as 'Asleep'.

I appreciate the app is probably a bit limited in what it can achieve, but I'm curious if there's a way for it to record a portion of the time as 'Asleep'? The blurb within the Health app seems to suggest that the iPhone can do this alone.

All the phone can do at this point is detect lack of movement inside the time you set for bed. If you put your phone down, walk away and do whatever the rest of the evening it will mark you as in bed. I assume we will have more info from the watch or something similar in the future but not until they find a way to make the battery last much longer or perfect wireless long range charging that will charge your battery while you sleep.

only if it's past the time you set it for. like mine is set for 1230am so whatever I do before 1230 doesn't affect it.
