I've never looked into it but what exactly are the killer premium features of BeeJiveIM which make it worth the price and better than the free ones?

Really don't see the point of this as Palringo is going to be releasing version 1.2.3 in the next couple of days (waiting for it to be approved and added to the AppStore), which will keep you logged in upto three hours after you close the app, send you email nofications and best of all is $15.99/£9.99 cheaper then Beejive

If that is the case, just continue to use Palringo while it is free, and then if they begin to charge, compare its price with whatever apps at the time have the same functionality.

I own Beejive, but completely understand users who would rather utilize something free rather than paying (a good amount in the iphone app world) for something that has similar features

Why won't you just jailbreak ya'll phone and then you could have "push." Its a program in Cydia called Backgrounder. Works perfect and is the same as push.

When I last used the "Backgrounder" application, I found that while battery life was fine, it just wasn't an application that worked very well with the programs I attempted to use it with. It may have just been a conflict on my iPhone so I cannot say that what I found will be true for everyone.

I wish Apple would simply allow us the choice to use applications in the background, but I suppose that is a discussion for another time.

I sprung for BeeJive at £5.99. The UI is excellent, and they have the option of 24 hours of connection now rather than when the servers have been increased to handle the traffic, as Palringo are doing.

Don't get me wrong, Palringo is a great app, but IMO, £5.99 is a steal for BeeJive.

Okay, how would I go about doing that. I have just brought the app mainly due to the landscape functionality which will actually make IM a much better experience on the iPhone. Palringo should have included that with the annonced update.

So how do I set up notifications?

I hesitated over it whilst it was at £7.49 a couple of weeks back, but one of my friends bought it then and thought it was great, so when it came around at £5.99, I couldn't resist.
